What Kit Collections do we Buy?
We purchase complete collections of unbuilt plastic model kits, from a modest stash to collections of several hundred kits.
Military vehicles, aircraft, armour, ships and civilian subjects are all of interest. We buy the whole collection. We do not take only the high value kits and leave the common ones behind.
Brands we regularly buy include Tamiya, Airfix, Revell, Trumpeter, Academy, AFV Club, Das Werk, MiniArt, Takom, Dragon, Italeri and others. Opened or factory sealed, we will look at the collection as a whole provided the kits are largely complete.

Tamiya, Airfix and Revell make up a large part of the kit collections we buy. That includes 1:35 armour, 1:72 aircraft, 1:48 kits and mixed brand collections built around those names.
If you are looking to sell a Tamiya collection, an Airfix stash, or a mixed lot with Trumpeter, Academy or AFV Club, we value it kit by kit using recent auction sold prices rather than a flat rate per box.
Scales we buy
We buy all common scales, including 1:35, 1:48, 1:72 and 1:16.
Larger 1:16 kits and smaller 1:72 kits are valued differently. That is another reason we do not use one price for every box. Send photos or a list of brands and scales and we can give a much more accurate figure!
How we value plastic model kits
We do not pay a set fee per kit. Values vary too much between a common Airfix aircraft and a large 1:16 armour kit.
Each collection is priced individually from recent auction sold prices and from our own results from selling thousands of kits at auction. Box condition, whether parts are still sealed on the sprues, and whether instructions and decals are present all affect the offer.
We cannot inspect every kit in a very large collection before purchase, so we sample a range of boxes and allow for the fact that some may be incomplete. We are always upfront about that when we make an offer.

FAQs
Do you buy opened kits?
Yes, if they are complete with parts, instructions and decals. Factory sealed kits or those with sprues sealed in their original packaging are preferred, but opened unused kits are still of interest. We cannot inspect every kit in a very large collection before purchase, so we sample a range of boxes and allow for the fact that some may be incomplete
Do you buy 1:35, 1:48 and 1:72?
Yes, and other scales too. 1:35, 1:48 and 1:72 are the kits we see most often, but we also buy 1:16 armour, 1:350 and 1:700 ships, 1:144 aircraft and smaller scales.
A collection can be one scale or mixed. Tell us the scales when you inquire, as a large 1:16 or 1:350 kit is valued very differently to a small 1:72 or 1:144 kit.
Do you take incomplete kits as part of a collection?
If most of the collection is complete, missing decals or a missing sprue in a few kits will not stop us buying the lot. We do not purchase collections that are mostly started, part-built or incomplete. When we inspect a sample of boxes we are checking for that reason.
We do not cherry pick the best kits. If we buy, we make an offer for the collection as a whole.
Do you pay a flat rate per kit?
No. A common kit and a large specialist kit are not worth the same amount. Brand, scale, subject and completeness all change the price. That is why we value collections individually from recent auction results instead of offering £10 on every box.
Do you buy built models?
Unfortunately we do not purchase assembled kits at the moment. Built models are difficult to value fairly and very difficult to pack without damage. We focus on unbuilt kits. If you have built models as well as kits, we can still look at the unbuilt part of the collection.
Do you collect from my home?
JG Models offer a free, UK wide collection service. Once a price is agreed, we arrange a date and take the collection in one visit where we can. We are based in Bourne, Lincolnshire, but we collect nationwide. For longer distances we may tie the visit in with other collections in the area, which we will be upfront about when we arrange the date.
